Do your homework about CD
There is so much info about CD, I was thoroughly confused. I tend to OVER-research! To clarify for anyone who is overwhelmed with the choices, this cloth diaper has a pocket that the diaper insert fits into. I guess I thought it snapped ONTO the diaper so that only the pad needed to be changed. I am just experimenting to see whether I like cloth-diapering or not. If you were going "all in," you'd have to have 5-8 actual diapers a day.
My son will be 2 in December so I thought it might be good for him to be able to feel that he is wet. Well, the diaper is so absorbent (after being "stripped"), that it is hard, even for me, to tell when he is wet. He is a pretty heavy overnight wetter and the GoGreen Bamboo Diaper Insert that I purchased with this cloth diaper worked well. I don't think the insert that came with Alva would work overnight.
My son is long and thin (about 24 lbs), but the snaps allow this cloth diaper to fit perfectly. I cannot imagine that it would be...
Worked better than I expected
I was nervous buying a cheap cloth diaper- but this cloth diaper was great. It's easy to adjust the size and I have used it on a baby and a toddler. It works just as well as my other cloth diapers that were 3 times the price. I will continue to buy this brand.
Possibly bad batch of PUL?
I have other alvas and rebranded alvas, but the two I ordered both seem to have the same issue, even with only being slightly wet, the front of the diaper feels damp and leaves a wet spot on baby's pants (not near the legs or I'd assume a bad fit/leak). Alvas bamboo inserts are all we use, and, like I said, I have other alvas that are perfectly functional, but the two I ordered a few months ago are not.
